I have some spray but am concerned that I might mess something up if I spray and it was a commission drawing of the Jack Russell Terrier.  I sent it home to her in a protective cover and mat and told her to not allow anyone to touch it!!  I also told her I would frame it for her if she bought the frame and mat. Once framed and behind glass, it should be safe.

Thanks for the advice Sylvana.  I agree that acrylics will be a lot easier when travelling.  But you know for me, their fast drying tendency presents problems during the painting process and this is why I just recently bought a whole stack of oils.  I guess there is no easy solution.  One dries too fast and the other too slow.  But in the end, we all manage to get there somehow and I'm really enjoying the journey!

Hi Silvana, Thank you for agreeing to be my friend on this site.  It sounds like we are very much alike.  I too, think that I need many hours spare before I even start a painting.  But I think you are right in that I should try to paint some small paintings on my travels and I have been thinking about that too.  I have even bought a pochard box and have it all set up to do the small paintings on our next trip.  Still tossing up whether to take oils or acrylics but I think the acrylics will win due to the quick drying.  We love going away in the caravan and are usually away for at least a couple of months each year mostly in the Winter and then a few small trips as well.  I never tire of going into the outback and you can't go there in the Summer.  But you are also right in that I think I have found the right site to get me going with my painting.  I know Richard's instructions and videos are excellent and there are many good artists in this site as well.  I have entered the current workshop but fear with all of the Christmas festivities and time flying by fast, I won't get any painting done.  :-(  By the way, I love your sunset painting above.  It's very beautiful.

i really appreciate the thoughts, dear Silvana.. thank God, we've survived all that but sad to note some of our relatives and friends in the Visayas (middle part of Philippines) didn't..  these things happen for a reason i suppose and there is nothing we can do to stop it. as they say when mother nature speaks, everyone must listen and it is sending us message not only to my people but worldwide. after a huge earthquake that made 9 churches bow down to earth last October, typhoon came along the following month. i don't know where to put the sorrow for my people but to divert and look on the brighter side, still hoping to see that tomorrow is another day to live. another chance to start caring, spread love instead of hate and greed. as of this point we are coping up and staying strong for each other..  amidst of a lot of gold mining and abuse of natural resources..my Philippines is still a very beautiful country, a lot of beautiful places and unharmed forest, fish sanctuaries, etc. take care!

Silvana! I thought I had requested you as a painting friend long ago! Of course I'd be very happy to correct that oversight. You've been a painting buddy for a while now. Thank you!

Thanks Silvana for your kind words

Regrettably I have never painted in oils but I think you would take to watercolours like a duck to water. Its fun as you can throw the paint  around to your hearts content...and you will get great results! Have a go!!

You have a lovely portfolio.......... now add some watercolours!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Silvana,

thanks for viewing the lake, glad it revoked precious thoughts. My business partner is Serbian and has told me much about that region. Will definitely be taken there when I visit. This was a small painting done on a whim, in preparation for a bigger one.  Just got lucky as it turned out OK :-)

Cheers, Jen
