Thomas, I think too many artists are insecure and back out of hanging their work and possibly others don't think a restaurant is the way to go. I have also seen articles saying that galleries are becoming less popular because of the 50% take from all sales. All Gallery prices here double the cost of paintings and usually the artists take the cut. Dealing with this problem with the jewelry I make too. :)

Thanks Lori and Deb!
I am happy about the contact but It comes down to the quality of the paintings at the end. It will take a couple of years to get them on a level where I not just hope they sell, but i will know. Deb, did you ask a good artist about the problem?

Thomas, I don't understand why artists are hesitant to get their work into this little gallery either. A few have told me they ARE interested, but then I don't hear back from them. So strange! Let us all know how things go for you with the gallery too!

Outstanding!! I'm sure they'll fly out of the gallery! You're on your way! I'm very happy for you:)

Deb, hard for me to understand that you have problems finding good artists, the number of great artists from the US appears to be just below infinity. As a comparison: i live in the rhein Neckar Region, an area in the southwest of Germany with aboit 2 million people. In the meantime i am certain, that i am the only person that paints plein air on a regular basis...

That's great...I pray this will be a step forward that will be very profitable for you and a big encouragement too! I really wish you were one of our local artists here in NC! I would have wall space in our little gallery for you for sure! :) I now have the difficult job of tell an artist that I will not hang her paintings. They just look too childish! I really hate that part. :(

Hi Deb and Lori!
The meeting with the gallerist went well, a nice easy-going guy. He thinks my small paintings of local subjects ( preferentially citiscapes with recognizable buildings/landmarks) would have the best chance to sell in his gallery. So i will do some 5 of those in the next weeks and get back to him....
Thanks Deb, for helping me make the first steps towards galleries! :-)
