Thank you Faisal.  I know exactly what you are talking about! .. same thing happens when I post my landscape paintings.

Thanks Mike. You are correct! Unfortunately it because of the photgraph that is very contrasty... and makes the nostril shadows darker than they are... All the portraits I have posted so far are better in original form and there are subtle value changes that make them look good

Beautiful Fiscal ... your wonderful use of edges and values capture the eloquence of your subject.  Was this from life?  As I was looking over your drawing .. NOT looking for anything wrong, just admiring your drawing ... I noticed that the shadow between her nostrils might be a little too dark a value?   .. Maybe the the shadow at the tip of her nose might require a little more attention?  I am not a portrait artist, Faisal, so you know what you are doing more than I do ... so let me know what you think ..... I am always eager to learn.  happy New Year!
