Thank you Ann. I can see why Sorolla loved to paint scenes of children at the beach! There's such a heightened sense of drama, vulnerability and intimacy when children play against the backdrop of the mighty ocean, and he captures that so beautifully, along with the sunshine.

Beautifully done Gail !  The color harmony holds the whole thing together. The center placement of the figure is effective because he is not a semetrical shape and the placement of other elements in the painting support composition. Frame it

Thanks Robert! Happy that you like it. I know, it's a bit of a faux pas, isn't it, to plunk the subject right in the center!

very nice Gail !!!  The water, the figure, the composition (except the boy is maybe a little too centered), and the sand are all outstanding ... congratulations!!!

Thanks so much Mairo - glad you like it! I painted this from a 27 year old photo of my son on the beach in Scotland. I didn't change anything, not even the black and fluorescent green bathing suit lol.

Your painting is wonderful; everything about it! I particularly like the way the eye is lead around the painting with the shapes in the foreground and the shadows of the sea leading towards your little boy.

Very effective with the subject in the centre.
