thanks stu - i was thinking about a lighter patch of blue on the left..i chose this photo because of the strong sky but i think it can be tweaked.  guess what!?..i'm heading to the golf course today for the first time in a long while - maybe i can head to the studio for a while first!! thanks for the advice!  and thanks dorothy and jess for the kind words...

Susie, nice painting. IMO the sky is dark enough already. I would darken the deeper water and lighten the sky on the horizon if I did anything, but I think your balance is ok. I can't see your turtles very well; they look like the rocks (but I guess most turtles do look like rocks anyway, but without chiseled out sides). Stu

caroline - thanks - in my reference photo..the sky and sea were so different but we know better - you just have to put it in there even if you don't see it because it all needs to relate! back to the drawing (painting) board...

i really love the free and easy style of this painting  i believe it is my favorite so far  maybe more land color reflected on the sky? particularly in the far left? just a touch though...but it relly seems quite perfect :)
