Wonderful painting, Stu!  Definitely agree about using your own photos - the biggest struggle for me is to see the detail in these workshop photos.

Stuart, your comment about using your own photos is very  true. I found myself facing this problem. When I paint from my own phtos, no matter how boring they are, I am very emotional and know better how to deal with them. Interesting.

Thank you all for your very flattering comments. Hazel, I am very fortunate that this lovely place is only about 2 miles from my house. I have done a painting of this location before and I actually used a different crop of this painting for my background in the last workshop. As good as Richard's reference photos are, I like to shoot my own of a place I know; I agree with you that doing that enables me to put more energy into the painting. I notice that you frequently do the same. Stu

Very nice Stu. You've made this workshop your own! I always feel I can put more into a scene if I've been there and it means something to me and it is great to be able to put Richards techniques to work thus!

I can feel the wet earth in the grasses. There are must be some birds living there.I love your details on the trigs and dry grasses. All make it a very good painting.

Nice use of greys that lead us into the painting to the bright little house. I agree with Michael, its a keeper
