Learning points...whew...where to start

The biggest learning points on this one was contrast and atmospheric perspective.

Contrast. When doing those trees, it was important for them not to look like a big green mass...which it did at first...once I added it the hard contrast around the shore and broke up the green with the dark contrast it was good.

Atmospheric Perspective. If you have taken some of Richard's workshops you know what this is. I painted the trees in the back much much lighter with greys and not green. And, the edge of the trees on the left blend into the lighter color as they go around the corner.

Also, in my reference the trees were all greens, but I added reds to warm them up and give them some interest.

I love how you are travelling the world with your paintings this workshop!  Between you and Jon Main, you could keep several galleries well-supplied with great paintings!
