30 cm x 40 cm, Oil, Plein Air near Erpolzheim

Have you noticed that I have started to think like a real artist recently? No, not because my paintings look weird... thank you. That's just because it's fairly hard to paint outside.
I mean the info below the painting. If you ask anyone but an artist what the size of this is the answer would be 40 cm x 30 cm. Finally i switched to the artist convention, stating the height of the painting first - a victory over my old habits ;-)

Thank you Candi Laura and Stu!
Last year i only noticed that pleinair work is very helpful after the summer when returned to studio work. It felt so easy.

Yep, it's very hard to paint outside, but painting outside improves both your outdoor paintings and your studio paintings. Outdoor painting with the changing light discourages detail, layered techniques and poor color harmony. But composing a scene is difficult and getting your values correct, especially when there is glare, is tricky. But when you come home with a strong painting, you can't wait to get out there and paint another one; this is a healthy addiction, because the only way to improve your outdoor painting is to paint outdoors as much as you can. Keep it up, Thomas!!!

Thanks Joy! It's a beautiful area near the german wine street but with the cold wind creeping in it did not feel very inviting towards the end.
