Michael, Joy, Thank you very much!

Michael, yes I see what you mean! Sky connect to water, and the warm color sky also match the beach color too. I really enjoy to look at it now. I like your "FRAME IT" very much. I just want to say THANK YOU!

Beautiful Laura!!   Do you see what that immediately did your painting?  You have a much better balance of shapes,  you have got rid of the eye stop, great negative shape of the sky now.  The two rocks are different ...in size, shape, and texture ....all excellent!  Do you see how we get this exciting rhythm going with the interesting rock shapes and the staccato eye movement thanks to the break in the rocks.  Great job.  I like how you have kept the sharpest edge at that pointed rock and the left edge of the other ...brings your focus right there, through the opening, up the clouds, and then back via the slanted light on the right hand rock.  Before you put the opening, you had an eye trap ..there was nowhere else to go when we reached the rocks ..FRAME IT!

Thank you Colleen! Actually I just open up little bit in mid-rock based on suggestions. I will take photo when I have chance.

Hi Michael, Joy, Jessica, So Much Thanks! I agree with all of you. As soon as I blocked in I realized the composition would have little problem. I feel it is disconnected the big rocks with the rest of painting. I could put some water color on the rocks, actually I did but not enough. I will change the mid-rock smaller and extend water further back.

Thank you all again for great suggestions!

Great painting Laura! ..It is great to see that you are not making your shadows so dark ...they look a little more atmospheric ....would not hurt to give them a little more atmosphere.  I agree with Joy and Jessica ...that shape in the middle is a target and an eye trap.  Suggest you change that to some smaller rocks and have an opening to the horizon somewhere.  The smaller rocks will provide the dark connection between the two masses .but they do not need to physically connected ...leave some openings.

Really like the foreground beach & water on this one, Laura.  Wondering if there would be more depth if the background cliffs didn't go quite so far over, to show a little more of the sea beyond them?  I find composition of beach scenes a bit tricky!
