Acrylic on 10x8" canvas panel. I've never been to Yosemite and I've never seen Half Dome. While I was thinking about this painting I decided to borrow RR's artistic license and relocate this scene to the French Alps, the distant mountain is now Mont Blanc (been there, seen it).

Paul and Anna, thanks for your comments. You have both been very constructive and very helpful, it's appreciated.
It's a very pleasant painting, Stephen! The boulders have good volume, bid and heavy they are so believable. Yes, a bit of warmth in them will bring them closer. I also like the texture in the boulders path and rocks. Well done!
Stephen, I really like your use of detail in the foreground and the lack thereof in the distant mountains and trees. I like the texture on the rocks, very lifelike. I like the change in the mountains in the back to resemble somewhere you have been and making it more personal that way. I would suggest a more gradual/varigated transition from the warm to cool on the mountain behind the foreground trees. It will help the viewer interpret the mountain better. I do like your work on the left side of the mountain with the rocks and trees. While you could be more bold in your colors in the foreground I think your subtlety here was great.
Thanks Silvana
Michael, thanks for your valuled input. Next time I try this effect I'll to be more courageous and bold with my colours, rather than try to be subtle. I recognise that I am still on a very steep part of the learning curve.
Great Stephen!
Stephen, great job in changing the scene. Very good illusion of depth by overlapping and value ...more warm colors in the rocks (and foreground) would enhance the depth even more. May I suggest that you refrain from using so much white paint ... especially in the yellows and oranges you have used for the glow.
Thanks Cristina.
Lovely!
