Have a wonderful 5 days in Rome. Richard has partnered, I forgot how puts that, has his own branch of the VAA. Barry is located now in Italy I believe, maybe you'll be able to do one of his workshops, they look really good and if I could afford or a bunch of money lands in my lap some day, a trip to one of those workshops is the first thing I'll do with it.

About that river it appears a bit too uniform as it gets close to us. Maybe the left side can angle around a touch toward us and have a bit more of a path into the scene, that would be all this piece needs in my humble opinion. I really liked what you did also on the last workshop1, I think you're doing really good work here, congrats.

Thank you Denise - actually I see what you mean about the river - the shape is wrong I think.  The photo cuts it off a bit before it widens and accentuates the awkwardness which is less evident on the actual painting.  I'm on my way to Rome for 5 days, and when I get back I may try glazing over all but the focal point.  I saw that you are following art courses at the Virtual Art Academy too.  I just signed up and am already feeling reassured by the precision of the instruction - hopefully the next workshop entry will show that.

Hello Casey, I like this a lot. You have managed to get a wide variety of textures. Your use of thick thins are very effective for highlighting the focal area. I love your colors here also, very soft and a good use of warm and cool. The more I look at this the more I like it. The only thing here that doesn't quite work for me is the river and I'm not sure even what to suggest but other then that this painting really sings for me. Well done! I understand going out for chocolate...also.
