Hi Gail, I couldn't find me using search on the members page either. Probably so many members now I fell off the edge. Might have to contact a webmaster and get rescued. Anyway just click my ugly mugshot in a forum and I should rise like Lazarus. i.e. Click > Forum > Painting > Mastering Color > P.11. I should be down the end there somewhere, Terry

Ro, Do you use long paint or short paint. Long paint is chewing gummy...dosen't snap off, short paint is buttery...snaps of early out of the container. Short holds the brush stroke texture and sits up on the canvas. Long flattens and is good for glazing. Some brands are shorter than others. Too make paint short, leave it on a blotter for a while (removes oil) or leave it out overnight (oxidises). Thin up short paint with a bit of turps, dosen't need much. To lengthen add oil. Rembrandt used long paint that held its shape. Artists and scientists are still trying to work out his technique. They think he had some sort of dryer and worked fast, Terry

Hello Richard,

I just finished watching your videos for the second time. At the end of the last one you commented on how it was like a long journy. In a certain sense just watching the videos I felt like I went through a journey with you and had a tinge of sadness when it was over. OK, I got it out. Better now.

Now to the issue at hand. I am overwhelmed. I have stated a painting and I am am almost afraid to move forward with it. After watching your videos, I look at it and think that I am all wrong in my approach. I feel like at the beginning I had a clear idea of what I want, but now EVERYTHING is in question. I was wondering if I could post a picture and get a little advice.  In the end I will get paint on there, but what it ends up might not turn out as I originally envisioned.

I am using regular acrylics. I do plan on getting the interactive paints and giving them a whirl, but money is tight right now, so it will have to be on another painting.

Regarding downloading the course...I have very dodgey internet, if the connection drops and reconnects does the download continue where it left off or does it start over? The last course download I did took 1 1/2 weeks!

Unfortunately not feasible at this time. Cruising in the caribbean makes shipping exhorbitantly expensive. Plus the additional time factor and customs dance-around can really drag things out.

You can look at your painting or subject through a red acetate sheet and it will strip out the colors and only show the values. I've found that I usually have to use 3 sheets together to totally get rid of all color and see the raw values.
