Hi, Usually, the best way to get a discussion going is just as you did here. When someone responds, you receive an e-mail. On the workshop, as you scroll down, you can read the notes. Richard will post a video soon. These video's are very helpful. He has been visiting the Grand Canyon and hasn't got this one up yet. When you Click on MY Page, you can set up your profile and even post photos of your artwork. When you click on "Photos", you can see the most recent artwork done by others, and comment. They will receive notice of your comment. Most of the conversations here from my experience are done this way. If you look down to your bottom left, you can see members online and if you click on one of them, you can chat real time with them. Good luck, I look forward to getting to know you.

With this challenge, my understanding is that we do it in black and white first to practice "value scaling". After photographing, then add color values and details and photograph again. You can do as many as you like and post them. You will see that some people will do very elaborate paintings, but many do very simple ones so as to really grasp the concept being challenged. When his challenge video is complete, it will clear things up a bit. In the mean time, I recommend a few small studies in black and white if you want to go ahead and get started.
