Welcome to the site Andrea! I am not near at all, but good luck in finding sbd to paint plein air with!
I live about an hour from you in Weeki Wachee, Florida. Many of the plein air groups come to this area to paint. They generally go to the Bayport area, and you can see the Gulf from most of the roads along the coastline. No high rise buildings to block your view. You have some of the best plein air painters in your area, and Tarpon has a lot of talented artists. I can't tell you their names publicly without their permission. However, I can tell you that not far from you resides two very famous and highly recognized artists, Morten Solberg and Pat Weaver. I could name others but you can look up these two noted artists. Morten will be judging the Florida Watercolor Society show this September. He will also be doing some demonstrations. I think Richard would get a kick out of him. They are both witty.
You can find name on the Spring Hill Art League website. We will be having our November art show, "Art By The Lake" at the Lake House in Spring Hill, Fl. All this information is on the website. You can call me for more information.
I have had a couple shows in the Stirling Gallery in Dunedin. It is a very nice gallery. The town is rich with quaint shops and friendly people.
I can't remember not having a paint brush in my hand. Art has always been my happy place to be. I have a Fine Arts degree but I have learned by far more from other artists, and Richard is one of the best teachers I have encountered. He is brilliant and practices his skills. I tried keeping up with him, but that was impossible. He took an hour and it took me a week to complete my little painting.
