Thank you for being so generous with your compliments, Joseph!  This painting is special to me not because I know the people (I don't!).  It's special to me because for a long time I couldn't see that this kind of father/daughter relationship could really exist because I never had that with my abusive dad. Painting this was my acknowledgment that yes--this safety, protection and love is a real thing that some people get to have, and that I will fully experience when I leave this earth and meet my heavenly Father.

Love this painting! The little girl just glows with warmth and light. I can feel how safe and protected she feels holding her father's hand. The movement of the water gives wonderful action for such a serene scene. Beautifully executed, you should be very pleased with this piece.

Thank you for the compliments Xiao, Hyun, Linda, Laura, and Ann!  This came after a series of disappointing paintings, so I felt really good about it.  Today I went out and did some plein air painting, and it didn't quite hit the mark, either. ; ).  I know we need to paint those ugly ones to learn from, but it sure is nice to paint a winner now and then.
