Oil on 11 x 14" canvas panel. I'm starting to learn how to paint with oils as I have been using acrylics for years. I am beginning to really love them and will continue to paint with them. The main reason I've switched is to be somewhat familiar with oils for the Oct workshop in Camarillo, Ca.

So happy you will be going to his live workshop!
I just snagged Richard's Painting. Oh, he is so wonderful! Thanks :-)
Thank you Jim
I thank you! As your timing was perfect about water-based oils. I had ordered Cobra online and haven't received them yet so am still painting with the others. Yesterday I was cleaning up and just really missed the easy cleanup with acrylics. I was thinking about just going down to get some W&N water based and your comment sealed the deal. My daughter uses those and really likes them also. Have a super 4th Dorian...
Just saw your question about water based oils! That is all I have used for so long a time I cannot remember when!
I am not an artist because I have been so lazy! However, I have had a lot of fun and have used many different brands of Water Soluble oils. Because you are familiar with acrylics you are going to love them! Easy clean up. At one time Richard was using them because of his allergies. He was using Cobra so I have Cobra also, paint is fine, but I wish the tubes were stronger. I also use Winsor and Newton water soluble oils. Those tubes have lasted for years. Happy painting :-)
Oh! Thank you Dorian - I am in excellent company which encourages me to "trust the process". I'm really looking forward to the workshop as I have never painted plein air.
Magnificant. You are an ARTIST Carole! You are so fortunate to be going to the Oct workshop. Happy Painting..........
Mario, thanks for your compliment. Have you ever gone to one of Richard's workshop? I love what you do and I wonder if you have ever used water based oils?
I really like your painting; the dramatic darks in the foreground, the light effects look really good as does yoru composition. You are very lucky to be joining the workshop!!
