Wow - I love this - beautiful work!
I am all over the place with my brands though primarily rely on Winsor and Newton .... they do a great aureolin, raw sienna, cobalt blue and rose madder genuine though the price is through the roof. Burnt sienna seems variable but I have not found a brand yet that I love. I am not too particular about the thalos which seem pretty standard across the board as does french ultramarine. As long as the remainder are artist's quality they are all fairly good.
By the sound of it you use w/c's. How do you like the medium and do you have any favorite papers or paints?
Just googled soft press Fabriano - a mix between CP and HP, it sounds very interesting, will have to try it... What brand of paints do you use Jane?
Thank you all. I am blown away by your response! This one was done on a new type of w/c paper surface for me which is really responsive, color does not sink in as easily, stays more vibrant and can be lifted more easily...Fabriano soft press. The tools make all the difference.
It's a Wow! Wow! Wow! from me too Jane :-))
WOW!! This is awesome Jane...I love it, well done!!
WOW!! WOW!! JANE... I LOVE THIS PAINTING.... WELL DONE!!
Your colour, composition chickens and brushstrokes are gorgeous to say the least!!!
Thank you so much, Cheryl. I really struggled with this assignment, can't tell you how many starts I ditched in the process! I think I am starting to appreciate chicken shapes a little more though.
Very nice! I love the color combos and the depth of the scene.
