Oil on Canvas Board
6 x 6
Alla Prima.
I wanted to paint fast and impressionistically. Just letting go and trying to create a sense of who I sense this man is, beneath the public personae. 90 minutes later, feeling elated, I stopped.

Thanks, Elfrida. It felt good going down. Not too much need to fiddle with the surface.
Ahh, well worth the wait! Magical, Michael. ..Your clean paint and loose, yet precise brush handling is so well done. Really like the random use of color that we rarely see in a "realist" painter. Reminds me a lot of Helen VanWyk, her style and expressive freedom with color and brush. Curious, how would you describe this director's personality? I have my own idea from what you've captured, but would like to hear from you, the reality. Congratulations, my friend! So when can we expect the next one?
(Keep on "just letting go" It WORKS! *smiles*)
Love the unworked brush strokes and confident use of values.
Ah, thanks, Jim. It all flowed. Glad you like it.
Beautiful! I love this! You really captured the right look and feeling. Excellent!
Thanks M. I'm glad you like it. You were, in large part, a spur to do this painting. Remember you said to me: "do more do more!!" when I did the 'Study of a Director? Well, I listened.
Thanks for the really wonderful comment. So encouraging!
Hard and vanishing lines, facial structure is anatomically correct. Chroma in that magical ear to ear zone. Green hues that exist in every skin tone. Done in a free alla prima style. This is a gem of work Micheal.
