hank you so much Robert, Ann, Aurelia, Gail, Xiao, Adrienne and Cristina. lovely comments and much appreciated. Xiao, most of my paintings are alla prima so no drying before any highlights etc.  Bigger and more complicated paintings may take a day or two or three, example, Richard's latest challenge of his children at the beach, took me into the second day, however, the painting was still not dry.  I agree with you Aurelia, edge work is difficult and needs variation, practice is how things become easier :)
