Oil on linen, 10 x 12
This is the river running from the tallest waterfall in Iceland. It measures 198 meters tall and is very powerful. It is called Glymur. To see it you need to hike up the mountain and watch it from above where it plunges into the canion. I decided to walk through the canion and see how far I would get. The river was very harsh so I only managed to go about half way in, but I could still see the mist from the falls further in. You really do feel small in a place like this.

I plan to do many more paintings from this excellent location.

I know what you mean. I have struggled to do that too. but love the drama when it works. I had a few times when the lighting for my photo made a spot light effect that wasn't really there and I loved the accident.

Thank you for your comments guys. Deb. The spotlight effect is a good idea. I was trying to use the brightness of the water to lead you around and into the picture towards the depth of the canion. I am afraid I will ruin the painting if I start to downplay other areas even more :)

The rocks and water are very good. There is great motion in the water. When I look at the painting, I wonder what would happen, or if was even possible, to use a spot light effect for even more drama!?? Just thinking...
