Yes. You are both right, and not in any way a minor critique.  This is how I learn. This was my first painting. Mostly I like the colors, but it is too late to soften the mountains and there is so much wrong with it that I have moved on to new works. It was varnished already, and frankly,  not worth trying to fix it with the varnish on it. I have done 3 more paintings since then, and I am excited to try a looser approach and a more minimalist style of landscape and see where that takes me. Especially after seeing the beautiful work on this site.

Nice job!  If you want to paint looser like you stated in your introduction post, you might try softening up some areas of the long edge of your dark distant mountain.  That is a really strong edge.  Anyway, that's probably minor critique because it's beautiful the way it is.
