I took a photo of these rocks a few months ago & wanted to paint them, just for fun! Don't know why, but I like painting rocks! This workshop was a good excuse to do it. It's a type of limestone called "Jerusalem stone" which is used as a facing stone for buildings because of its beauty. It takes on a golden glow in the sunshine.

Thanks Manneherrin! Rocks are fun; you can lay down big slabs of paint & it looks like a rock!
Just a pile of awesomeness.. I need to do a study in rocks.. so far Ive been chicken....ill give it a shot tho
Thank you very much Ningning. It took me a while to figure out the background & try to add some depth; it wasn't like this in reality! I'm glad you like it.
I love your value and color contrast between the background and those stones. Beautiful!
Thanks for your comment Montalvo - maybe a bit more contrast would be good.
Hey Jess..you did another one. Good for you. Little more darkness on the shadows?? No matter what... i love your colors.
Thank you very much, Dor - I'm sure you could paint these rocks beautifully! (if you want to do it, I'd be happy to post my photo for you!)
Wonderful work Jessica! I wish I could paint rocks like these! Smiles : ))
