Thank you, Britt!  Yes this is watercolor. For a number of years I work with pastels, and then with acrylics. Nine months ago I realized I was totally obsessed with detail in my work.  So I went out and bought some watercolor paints and started working on being free and loose with my painting. It's been a real chore, because I'm so detail oriented in everything I do.  I think I'm finally getting the looseness that I want.  After having so many people tell me how hard watercolors are to work with I have found that I LOVE them!!  I hope it's showing in my work.  Thank you for the lovely comment!

I like this more every time I look at it!  I really like the cool blue shadows!    Is this watercolor?  I think many watercolourists get sucked into severe tightness/detail with portraits, but you have managed to keep it loose and emotional!
