Marinera Nortenia

Marinera Nortenia is a very popular folk dance of Peru. But dancing with the paso horse is a special porfermance every year in Lima and Trujillo. I never dance with a horse but my partner on the floor. The show of paso horse is very exciting and takes you back to those old days.
When I paint this work, I did not know how to use obvious brush stroke and fell into the trap of the details. Spent a looooooot of time to the details. Anyway, hope that it shows you a different beauty of people. Any critics , suggestions about this work are warmly welcomed.

I think that it will be a long time before I paint such detailed with complicated shapes and relationships work again. Suffered too much as it was beyond my confirtable zoon. Right Now, I just want to paint a single tree. A simplified tree in terms of shape, value and hue.

You know how much work and pacience was required. When I started it I was excited and happy. But I did not realise that each inch of it has so many changes of shape, value , colour and details. Overwelming. So difficult. It drove me crizy. I felt very sad and unhappy. Especially the likeness was so difficult to achieve. Oh, mine....Michael gave me some valuable suggestions like he always do for us. I really appreciate it. My husband pushed me back to work on it almost every day. Once, I even cried and told him that I did not have the capability to paint this type of work. Too much to me. He was scared by my cry as I always behave as a well controled, strong will person. Later on , I went back to keep on working on it again.

Ann, that is why when I see your work and other painters' work here I will smile and feel happy for you. I know That we all have to overcome so many unexpected difficulties and uncertainty to reach a small goal of our dream.

I hope that the committe of the exhibit for the charity will accept it so that it can realise its social value after all my hard work, tears and suffers.
