I find it so intriguing that to bring the spotlight effect "by throwing the area in front or behind it into shadow" and would love to see a demo of how to do this as well. I just ordered my first set of dvd's from you on Mastering Color and the 3 landscapes that come bundled together. I've painted in oils since I was 10 years old and never had the opportunity to learn from an established artist like yourself and can't wait to explore on canvas your techniques! :-) Thanks guys. The real trick I think is to sign it and then let it fall off your easel onto your palette and then facedown onto the grass, then spend 15 minutes patching it up. Well no, but that's what happened with this one. Then I got home to find my two previous paintings had been making out on the back seat together which took me another hour to fix. I'll learn one of these days.

I might go back to this spot and make a demo video of it since you guys like it so much. Thanks for the encouragement.
