Hi Carolyn...Old habits die hard..( french easel) ...I have enjoyed conversing with you...Happy Painting.Tom
Thanks for your answer, Tom. You pretty much use a double primary (warm/cool) palette then with the convenience of sap green added. And you use it with pizzaz! Interesting that you use the French Easel in the terrain and weather. I have a Julian that I used years ago, for workshops and it was a bear to set up, I moved to the original Soltek and found it much easier to handle...drawback being the retractable leg's susceptibility to jamming with sand etc (the fix was to secure plastic "socks" on them.) I'm now thinking of an OpenBoxM so I can easily paint in/from my car if I'm solo and no problem with setup and legs jamming. Getting itchy to get out there, so it will be soon! Thanks again for your input.
Hello Jessica, Hi Laura.........Simply, thanks for taking a moment to comment....It always lifts ones spirits to have ones work get a positive response from fellow painters...!!
Really love the colour in this & the light - looks like we could just step right into that snowbank.
I really enjoy seeing this painting. Very very well done!
Hi Carolyn, thanks for all your eloquent description of this painting and my work in general. So I generally use a french easel, and have gone through quite a few in my years painting outdoors, There are so may options, all are quite good. But my palette is ,and has been for years now....Yellow ocher, cad yellow light, cad orange, napthol red deep, alizarin crimson , sap green and ultramarine blue........These have worked for me, and sometimes I use cerulean blue..............Thanks again .........and good painting to you....Tom
Thomas your work is artistically inspiring and technically well done. It is obvious that you know exactly what you are doing, and why... without a need for the thought process. Congratulations, huge accomplishment and what I aspire to. Just starting plein air, bound to the studio in my other life. Since your love is plein air, may I ask what your choice of equipment is? And your basic palette?
I've enjoyed all the work you've posted here, but I think this is my fav. Wonderful range of color and what it doesn't say, the brush does!
Lovely bold strokes of soft color.. well done
