I kinda guessed that you rubbed out some areas, looks like lots of fun and I am going to try it with my grandchildren!  Thanks!

Thanks Sharon, I used Conte a Paris crayons, Colour Bistre 2454 , on Canson paper of a creamish shade.mounted on a board for support
For the softer areas I powdered the crayons and applied the powder with cotton wool as a painter would use a brush and used baby buds for more detail areas, this allows for very subtle shades. Highlights in white, and the gentle use of a plastic rubber creates interesting effects. Darkest areas were by the use of conte pencils.
