Thanks Susan,  You really get it done well.  I was trying to put some glow on my painting but just got it so muddy at the end.  I guess I was a liitle afraid to put the yellow orange color down. I have a lot to learn from you and everyone here.

Thanks Xiao Li.  No, I didn't glaze this painting, I painted the sky and the mountains as Richard demonstrated in his video - warmest and lightest right around the light source, with the sky cooler furthest away from the sun, and the light seeping into the crest of the mountains, making them yellow/pinkish. I also used yellow and pink in the reflections of light in the water.

Susan, your painting is my top choice.  What a beautiful paintng.  How do yor make it glow like this.  When you say you glaze it, do you mean you paint the whole picute over with some orange color or just part of it? Do you use regular paint to glaze or some special material for glazing?

I love this.

Thanks for your comments Judy.  I wanted to get that sunset ambience, so when I was preparing the image I increased the red intensity by about 10% and cranked the saturation level way up, so that the colours in the highlight and shadow areas became visible. I tried putting golden highlights on the river in the middle-distance, but the reflection angles just were not convincing.  The sun just wasn't low enough so I just had to be satisfied with the reflections where they actually are.

The glow is amazing, the repetition of color from the sky in the water makes for a very harmonious and gorgeous work!!!!    well done
