Thanks, Laura! I just brought it back home today and it is back on my wall. So nice to have it home ; ) Like an old friend.
It is very nice painting! I like your sky and water colors, Alia!
Hi, Ann and Thomas! I do think the canvas is slightly tilted, but, both of you are correct in seeing that my horizon trails off: higher on the left than on the right. I had not noticed it, but, went back and looked at many of my landscapes. (I can't look at Rocky Day Shore because it's in a coffee shop right now.)
All but two share the tilting horizon which tilts from the left down to the right. My very first painting's horizon tilts from left up to the right and my only landscape with a straight land line has a tilting tree line from the left down to the right.
Seems to be a reflection of my world outlook. I can actually see, especially in, Painting By the Edge where I have, in strong strokes, repainted the line of the horizon so that it arcs downward. I am obsessed with triangles and motion. I think that a tilting horizon satisfies a deep inner need for these elements (which a landscape would not normally satisfy). All I can say is that imagining the flow of energy going in that direction as I examine those paintings makes me very happy.
I would be interested to see if it changes in this year's paintings : ) Don't know, yet, but I should in a week or two!
Lots of energy and movement in your rocks. Does your horizon appear to tilt because of the angle of photo is off slightly ?
