Thanks again Sharon.  This is done with chalk pastels and has been done in San Rafael, CA for a number of years until this year when they did not have enough money.  They cordon off about 3 full blocks of two streets right in front of the San Rafael Mission and it gets community organization and business sponsorships and supports youth art programs.  Hopefully it will be revived this next year because people come from all over to do it.  Your are absolutely right about no fun for a bad back, plus it's usually in the high 70s or 80s the weekend in June that its done with no shade except what you bring.  I am very happy to just be a voyeur and paint from my photos the interesting costumes and postures of the artists along with their work.  Very colorful.  I've done a small series of these.  I would love to try a plein air work of it, but it is so crowded with onlookers that it would be hard; I may try it though if it survives, especially of some of the kids who do it.  Stu

I've actually done street painting in the past... no fun for a bad back!  Great job, love the color...is this done with pastels?

this is really cool!! you really did a good job on the foreshortening of his legs...good design!!!  and good luck in the contest!!!
