Oil on Canvas Board. Size 22" x 9". Goals were to create a glowing effect, powerful light an deep shadows. I accomplished goals using colours Ultramarine Blue, Cadmium Yellow, Cadmium Red, Titanium white, Browns and deep shadows were created using Ultramarine Blue, Reds, Cadmium Orange and Yellow Ochre when green was needed. I attempted to follow Richard's approach in Wkshp. 27 by mixing greys of each colour and then modifying each colour as needed. A small figure was added at the last minute but may be out of proportion to the scale of the mountains. Opinions welcome on improving this effort.

Oops! didn't notice the line of the horizon until the painting was loaded.  To be fixed. Also, thanks Joy for your sharp eye. You are right. the point of land would not be that intense.  I'm thinking about the figure, too.  So some sharpening up.... these are wonderful suggestions. Thanks so much.

Hi Gina - Really like the shape of the distant cliff and the glowing effect you've achieved!  Lovely colour in the sky too & foreground cliff too!  I think if you straighten the horizon line & change the front cliff shapes a little so they are a little less parallel to each other, it will look even better!
