Workshop 17 nr.2

8 x 10in, oil on linen
I decided to do two paintings for this workshop. I was playing around with pencil sketches for the composition. Leaving the horizon high, and low, and placement of the bushes and road. I was happy with these two so I wanted to try both of them out. The paint on this one is quite thick. I was really enjoying laying it on there.

It has a simple, well-balanced abstract structure, plenty of variety of shapes and brushstrokes, and stunning colour. The deeper foreground here allows the eye to travel through the painting more slowly from the bottom edge to the 'horizon' and enhances the lovely sense of quietness and space.
