I got home from a busy day at the office to find a cheque in the mail for the sale of "Me and My Family". This is exciting news for me as I've only been painting for 2 years and this is the 3rd painting I've sold. It is a great boost of encouragement for me to keep going. Challenging myself with workshops like the pear/grape challenge and continuing to work on the basics and not try to rush the learning is starting to work for me. Thank you Julie for your lovely comment on my painting. Much appreciated.
Julie - congratulations on the sale of your painting, it's quite a thrill, isn't it? I love your three little birds on the fence. Your treatment of the fence is sooo good. And the birds are so fluffy! Love them! Rita
Thanks Julie, I'll check & see if I have that volume. I really like to try new approaches as I enjoy experimenting... it "loosens'' my style up. I tend to use watercolour when I want to be more 'precious; or delicate, then acrylics when I want to push the colours more and free up my brush work, and now seeing the inks... wow! Maybe one day I might even get to doing abstracts. Find it so hard NOT to paint a like-ness of what I'm seeing . Have a great Easter - Fabulous weather so far eh?
Hi Julie
I have posted some portraits. Note that you are a pastel artist, I love to use pastels for portraits. When I watch Richard's demos it is like watching a magic brush. I always feel like that when using pastels. The work just appears somehow. You are obviously very adept at the medium, your work has a wonderful liveliness. I envy you living in god's chosen country. Spent a lot of time in Tassie - most of it aghast at the surroundings. Hope to get back there soon.
