For those of you that might be a little intimidated by nice work, .....remember that we all did a bunch of crap....lol (i still do) If an artist acts superior....IGNORE THEM.....they are not worth your time. Art is a little piece of us that escapes into the world.

Something I used to do a lot is buy a box of 10-reams typing paper on sale. I would tear open a ream and sit and do thumbnail sketches for…

When I first got here, I couldn't upload any pictures. I have a Mac, running the latest.

I was using Firefox and almost gave up. Then I switched to Safari, and that did the trick. They make Safari for PC's I believe so it may help others here with similar issues.…

Hi Randy,

Thanks for your comments on the Dried caps and immature nuts of the Macrocarpa Gum.

Sorry for the delayed response - I have not been on site for a while.

Hi Randy,

I love your honest remarks.  I was also drawn to the two woman chatting..  I felt I just had to paint it.  This is my second painting from the same artist, Daniel Knight.  I also felt it needed some yellow. :)) My yellow flowers I painted were a bit small. Everyone else makes landscapes sound so easy.  I really suck at landscape and the truth be know I also struggle a bit with it. I am sure it's the dull greens and browns I see everyday.   I am more comfortable painting people and abstracts....

It is so bizarre that you said I must paint my own interpretation in whatever I see.  I was painting around the same time that you wanted to chat, I had my computer on, and was probably too engrossed in what I was doing to hear the chat bell... But guess what. I painted my own interpretation of the view outside my window!!  Can you believe it.  Your thoughts must have influenced me in some way.  I have also been unable to paint for about 2 weeks.  Too sad, I messed up my previous painting.

When I started I was in a panic because I wet the paper and wanted to use it straight away and there was no time to draw in pencil on wet paper,  so I just used my brush like a pencil and then painted intuitively.  And now for the surprise.  The trees are YELLOW!!!  But in fact they are a very dull green.  I

I have hated the colour of these dull blue gum trees for a very long time, but lately have made friends with them... To me they are the dull brown bits in the painting you commented on.  What a coincidence you telling me to paint my own interpretation!!  I am blown over, truly!!

In the morning light I will take a picture and post it on my site.

I don't usually say this much, but the whole incident is a bit of a shock!!  I hope you understand.  :))

Be patient with me please.  I used to be better at this computer stuff, but am afraid technology might have zoomed on by.  The situation is this.  For over a year (guessing) I was able to just answer e-mail from TCA and I was automatically signed in.  Or I could just go to the site and was automatically signed in. Now, not so.  Why?  I searched the TCA site and can find nothing to "check" that says "remember me".  I HAVE FOUND on Internet Explorier that I want it to remember my passwords.  I am not having any problem with I Draw and Paint (another NING site) that I have been on for longer than The Complete Artist.  I just dont get what has changed?  Liz is also having the same problems.  ///  So, in despiration..........what is safari?

Hi Randy,

Yes, you are right about the airbrushers here. Not doubt there are a lot of new guys coming up through the ranks, but there was a guy called Paul Barker here. His murals used to win at all the car shows. I had not heard of him in 20 years - I thought maybe he had died, as I had searched the net for him for ages. Then last month he turned up in our Aust. Street Rod Assoc mag looking for photos of one of his old cars.

Pity he wasn't still airbrushing - might contact him to see.
