Still Life Workshop

I took a workshop with Kelli Folsom yesterday.  I love her loose painterly style and definitely want to paint more loose.  Workshops are always good, as they force you to see things differently and pull you out of your comfort zone.  I strongly recommend taking workshops and diving in.  (The painting is not complete and has some artistic no-no's but I…

Self Portrait Hand

So here is the second attempt on the Self-Portrait, with the hand fixed somewhat.  Please don't hold back with your feedbacks. I want to see through the eyes of other people.  :)

A Self Portrait

Look closely at the ball bearing.  I am holding the ball in my left hand in the painting and painted myself as such.  Hey! this counts as self portrait in my books… :).  Please do provide your feedback, if you have any, to improve this painting.  Thanks……

White Flowers in a Vase

Nothing profound to say about this painting.  Just trying to improve and trying to paint flowers.  Flowers require careful attention to values.  They are a little challenging.

Steve Jobs

This is a Macintosh Apple. Steve Jobs worked on Apple farms during his adolescent years, which influenced the name of his famous company: Apple. Jobs had a high regard for the place, where Art intersected with technology. Being an amateur artist and a professional engineer, I sort of understand this intersection and enjoy when and where I see the two meeting,… which…

Cool Haircut - Another Cafe Sketch

I was attracted to this gentleman's haircut.  Although my 30minute sketch did not do justice to it.  Anyway here it is.

Staring… (in Color)

So I took my monochromatic self portrait into color, and played with cropping.  So, here it is, after a lot of staring into the mirror…. Please do provide your feedback… :)

Staring…

Staring into the mirror and painting oneself is a job and a half. I find self-portraits the hardest.  The subject keeps moving and I as an artist keeps chasing.  Also, the mirror inverts your features, so no matter how hard you try it will be a little off.  However, I am very pleased at the likeness of this.  My biggest critiques,…, my children…

Painting #4: Brrrrrr!!!!

Hello friends,

USA is in the grips of the cold weather. Hence, this painting. However, we have had a very beautiful, few days in Texas.

This painting was done on a very cheap gessoed cloth surface made by Masters touch. Traditional oils are very easy to lay down on pretty much any surface. Any and all feed back are…

Painting #3: A Basket

I did this on the Raymar Linen Panle 6"x8".  This was done totally in traditional oil.  I have to admit Traditional oil are much easier to handle, especially if you are new to painting.  I took the above picture using my iPhone.  Any and all feedback are welcome… Thanks!  Please do visit my blog to see other paintings of mine:…
