Plein Air Oil Painting at Langs Beach, Northland, New Zealand...

What I beautiful day we just had! It could not have been more perfect at Langs Beach today. Just have a look at the video to see for yourself. Unfortunately not as many painters showed up as I had hoped - I will have to give you all more notice next time I do this. There was Bruce Sim from Waipu and Cameron who drove two hours from Auckland to get there - good on you Cameron! So we were an elite task force of three, supported by family and friends and doing our best to capture some of the beauty all around us. Finished off with a swim and dinner at a local restaurant with friends - all good.

I don't know really. It's pretty small (12"x12") which generally means a study to me, but I spent so long on it because the first 2 sessions of it's development were used for tutoring, makes me think of it as a finished piece. I guess every piece is a study piece though, and hey, if someone wants to buy it - it's finished!

I cant stop looking at this. Do you think of this as a sketch or a finished piece?
