The adventure continues…
I survived the 5 hour drive from Vegas to the Grand Canyon. Not much to say about that big old barren landscape except that I really wouldn't want to be doing it on a horse. Stopped off at Hoover Dam which was a pretty awesome testament to human engineering.
Got to the GRAND CANYON in the late afternoon and this was the first view I had of it:
BOOM BABY! It's one of those sites you can't quite comprehend no matter how hard you stare at it, and I did stare a LOT. Got to work painting as soon as I put my jaw back in place and managed to get a 10x8 done before the sun went down and the cold came down like a freezer lid slamming shut. Had a kiwi audience for the last half hour which was a lot of fun so I got this photo of us all freezing...
Three kiwi generations on a big family trip together - I thought that was pretty awesome too.
Everywhere you look is a painting.
- and a painter trying to do it justice.

SO CUTE!
...and so very LARGE!
I put away the brushes this afternoon and went for a stroll.
...and look who I found! Me and Smokey go way back.
Leaving here tomorrow for the 5 hour drive back to Vegas and then the 28 hours of flying and busing after that to get back home to my little kiddies and my wonderful Helen.
Here's a video made by someone at the convention showing some highlights...

Great video Richard! Who is the lady at 21 seconds? Loved her work.
Wow, these pictures bring back memories of the Grand Canyon! So much colour, form, texture, like you said... a painting at every view. You can't help be inspired to create a painting! I love your thought, I am going to use it if you don't mind that "The best thing I like about believing in God is that you can say thank you!" I'm so happy for you to have experienced not just the creation, but the Creator!!!! :) :)
"WOW" "WOW" you had a great time,,,,,i would love to be there too, your stuff looks great.
