It was in the gray layer that I first noticed that the nose was too short and the upper lip too far from the nose but ignoring that, the painting had started to take on a real 3D quality and I was very pleased with the progress of the method. In fixing the proportions I think I have lost a little of the depth but hope to get it back before its finished. This is only the second portrait I've attempted and the first turned out rather well, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed! LoL
One thing with the acrylics, if it doesn't turn out OK, I'll paint over it till it does!!!
Hi Ro. THANKYOU for that link! Something wasn't gelling for my new painting, and now I now what it is! - And I love your CD case idea. - My painting layout was going to be too complicated, but this will improve it greatly.
funny how you forget stuff. - Well ME, really! My mother was an artist, and because I was such a precocious kid and knew everything unto man, she just said gems here and there, that I'm just hearing now, as if for the first time. - So I KNEW about the Golden Triangle, from art in school, and later, when I was studying it, but the interpretation got lost. Just look ing at the photos in that article, he too was using thirds, like I do! - Uncool, apparently!
So, thankyou again, because my next painting will be about as complicated as this diagram he drew, so a bit of order will be in order! :)
I might have seen the final. I haven't gotten used to this site as to where to respond to paintings/comments. It can be confusing -at least for me! Anyways, you are a great artist.
Hello Ro, I finally was able to download my pics on the site. I would like to receive comments on them, but could not locate where you said would be appropriate to enter that! Could you let me know? I wish I had more time to spend on the site, but hopefully I learn how to get around on it. Thanks! Cheryl
I have just been able to photo my paintings and download them on the computer. NOW, I am not only a newby in the painting world (self-taught since about 2007), but I do not know very much at all about internet technology. If my grown children were here they could send the pics to the website. But I don't know how to do it. I tried but didn't succeed. Could you tell me a couple of different ways (in case I get to a dead-end again) how to do that? I would greatly appreciate it. I look forward to getting involved with this site and plan to take the painting classes. My first REAL class! Thanks so very much. Cheryl
Thank you for all the wonderful comments on the paints uploaded last night. I know you are very busy with your Flemish technique painting at the moment, so it means a lot, that you have taken the time to view my work. :-))
Thank you so much Ro for all your wonderful coments. But I do believe that it is you that is the inspiration to so many people on this site for you stay in touch and encourage so many. Your list of gifts speaks for itself. Need I say more!
We are the forgotten corner of the country when it comes to floods. :-(
We had 8 inches last night and we are flooded for the second time in a month! I thank our blessings that we are not as unfortunate as those further north in Queensland. In comparison, ours is just an inconvenience. Clean-up work again today, before the next deluge tomorrow.

Hi Ro. I've just had time to study the Golden Rectangle, and it doesn't make sense!!! Surely that can't be right!? - Must be me!
I got stuck on Step1 ! Lol! - He's saying it has to be SQUARE, but is showing a rectangle, and how to rule it up!!!
What's with the line C to G, and B to F !? D to C, and A to B is the square!!!
Doesn't he mean start with a RECTANGLE OF PAPER!!!!!?
I only just found out last night about the porn debate on 16th Feb, and we've lost Mad and Dameclese!!! OMG - I'm in shock!
So glad you're 2IC ! :)
