Boy that Boat painting prize was a while ago! Postman must have pinched it. I'll have to send you another, different boat painting. Let's hope this one arrives.

I love Massachusetts! I've lived here for over 20 years. I left for a little while a few years ago and couldn't wait to get back. I do love Richard's workshops and the people on this site are special!  So willing to help one another!

I hope you're coming in late September, Massachusetts is glorious in the autumn!  Gloucester is one of my favorite places in the world! Salem is a terrific place to visit too; as are Concord and Lexington!! Unfortunately for me, I will be in New Jersey for most of September...not my favorite place!

I still haven't started it yet.  There are several avenues to choose from, and I am still confused.  Let me know if you figure it out.  I am thinking that to add a photo you would copy and paste it on.  Not sure yet.  Have a blessed day!

What I mean by a calligraphic stroke is one that is not laboured over. It is succinct, beautiful in itself and seems effortless although the planning of the stroke or strokes may take some time. Saying less with a brush strokes often says more.

Hi Wanda, Thanks for your comments.  It is very nice to get a critique from Richard.  He's an excellent teacher and a super artist.  I really like your water colours. And I was also impressed with your drawing story board of the people on the beach painting.

Walda, I am very glad to be your friend. Thank you for invite me.  About the autumn tree and water photo, you can use it to paint for gift or for sell. I wish you good luck. I am painting it now and found something that I want to share with you. The ratio can be changed to make the foreground more space. That is Michael's idea and I like it. As the trees are very near, have to put  some details of leaves. I did not start smartly. As it was difficult to get the shapes of the leaves, I ghrabed my knife to do it . As I have never done anything with knife, it looks very aggressive. And I have no choice but use knife to do the trunks and leaves on the ground. I have not finish yet, but will upload what it looks like for your refference, This may help you avoid my mistakes.

Walda, thanks for the invitation, and of course I accept.   I enjoy your paintings and chatting with you in these workshop.   You and I seem to share a need to paint architectural scenes.  I get back to the Midwest fairly regularly because my son lives near Milwaukee.    Stu

Walda.

Thank you so much for your kind comments. I have been painting for as long as I can remember and to this day look forward to my next challenge. I have never painted in oils or acrylics and sometimes wonder if i'm missing out.. My excuse is that I know watercolour paints SO well I can predict what works and what doesn't....and the nice thing Its fun and rewarding. The secret is let it happen!! Rgds Kim

Walda, very nice to get acquainted with someone from my home state of Michigan.  I grew up in Port Huron. I just flew into Detroit to see my parents over Mothers' Day weekend.  We have a home in Vancouver, WA that we've rented to some friends.  For the past couple years we've been full time RVers.  Meadview, AZ is in the high desert, about 4 1/2 hours from Phoenix.  We've camped at Lake Pleasant and Alamo Lake ( about 1 1/2 hours from there) other years.  But we've settled here in this small friendly RV park and enjoy fishing on Lake Mead.  We also found a small community church here that we love, in this retired community, so we have developed friendships. I'll be watching for your paintings in the days ahead.  It's nice to be retired (was a social worker and piano teacher) and have time learning to paint!  I love having a paint brush in my hand and only wish I could paint better.
