I think it is sometimes useful to glaze - but once you start it does change the surface look - I'd like to know the answer to that too. Sometimes I've glazed over the whole ptg so one area wasn't gloss and the other was. But it didn't help the painting overall. Maybe we could glaze the bits we want to intensify or change the tone or colour - then matt varnish all afterwards. What do you think?

thanks Diane for your encouragement...however I can't find how oil painting can relate to watercolour in any sense.
