I looked at your entire gallery. I see post starting 7/2 through 7/24. Have you done any new ones that you have not had time to put on here? How is the framing project coming along? Has it cooled off any there? Ro

thank you for your encouraging comments on my hands painting :) your work is amazing and I hope you sell more too. I'd be a staving artist if it wasn't for my very generous husband who allows me to chase my dream... he says I'm his retirement plan... lol. I hope his investment pays up one day :) In the meantime I'm enjoying the journey........ hope you are having a great day, happy painting, Lu (my nickname)

I must come back and re-read this and look at your pic. Peggy, I would love to be your good friend. Good friend = someone you can tell anything to, differ greatly in opinions, but always be able to say how you feel because you know the other person will love you anyway! I have had one such friend in my life and it is great. You will never run me off. I will learn something from what ever you say about art, and I am very interested to learn. Roena

We were living with my mother for 2 months (24/7) after one of her hospital stays so I can at least relate to you taking care of your mother and dad. I am "on my way" to give you one "big, long hug" and tell you it will all be OK. I think you are to be admired because of your ability to still make time "for yourself" and paint. I just bet any doctor would tell you that is what is keeping you sane. Good decision on your part. Yes, it is just life. Sounds like you have enough lemons to make a tone of lemonaid. LOL /// I put the egg glaze pic on the gallery and got 9 lookers and not one comment. I sent out a note to my friends and then got comments. Not very many people on this site comment. Gail and I have made it our quest to try to encourage people to give feedback. I have started welcoming every person that signs up and mentioning to them to be sure and give feedback! LOL We shall see how that helps.(?). /// I am still going through Richards's Color course. I am giving myself 2 more months and then I am back to painting....I sure hope all this knowledge will take my paintings to a new level. // I think my excuse to not "getting out there" and doing the plein aire is that I dont want to be worrying about "how to mix" the colors. I want to get that all figured out and then go sit outside. Good news is I think I am finally starting to "see" color in nature. NM is a very colorful state with colorful grass and rocks, etc. /// More later my friend....."dont let go of the rope!" Ro

I decided I better put in a check up on you, since I have been think about you for days. Just wondering what you are doing and that you are doing OK. I'm still working on Richard's color class. Life keeps intupting me, so I work on the lessons/exercises for days, then something comes up and I have to put it away for a bit. Ever heard of Roswell, NM? Where the aliens landed? That is where we are now. I saw one and found out that they speak broken English, but they do spell rather well. I ask what their "people" were called. Very slowly he spelled out.... a r t i s t. lol Have a good evening. Ro

Hey girl friend. I am back in the world of working internet. I just got a newsletter today http://www.virtualartacademy.com/vaa/newsletter.pdf and in it (on the left of the front page) it mentioned a place in Beijing, China ... an area called 798 Art District as being the Soho of Beijing and comparable to N.Y. in the contempory art scene. Just checking if you knew about this or if it would be another place for you to check out to send more of your work to.// How r u doing these days? // I just got all of RRobinson's DVD's so I am all excited and ready to dive into them! // I am playing catchup on over 200 e-mails that stacked up for the 2 weeks I was off line. I just hate that! Ro

Peg, I am so glad to hear you are better today. I got to paint yesterday. First time since the end of May when we hit the summer "fast track" travel mode. It took me 6 hours to cover the canvas of an 8"x10". Yikes. I was trying a new to me style. Anyway, it felt good to paint again. I also just went through my stash of all my books, art materials, and paints. Re set up my studio which is the dining table in our RV motorhome. It is small but very organized so works well with great light coming in the window to my left. I'll talk to you again soon. Your friend, Ro

Peg, I guess you have heard the joke.....It is OK to cry, pout, and feel sorry for yourself. The catch is you have to set a "timer" - 30 mintues - that's it.....get over it!" /// I have no clue if it works! LOL Keep on smiling as tomorrow is a new day. Ro

Hi Peggy, I was kind of hanging out on The Complete Artist.....alone. Not a lot of activity, but I keep hoping and checking out the site. I thought I would drop you a note, saw your blog, checked out your site, read everything and looked at all your beautiful art. My 2 fav were Abundance and Bird of Paradise in your WC group. You have a very impressive art history. I guess I just wanted you to know that you impressed me enough that I spent my time looking more. Smile........I had a good laugh when you said that after you finished the painting - the real painting appeared when your turned it upside down! I loved it! LOL Ro

I inherited my mother's brushes and paints. Perhaps, it was hers. I do love it! I'm off to bed. Ro

Oh this is so funny. I have a favorite brush - the one I painted the yellow on that bush / tree with. I thought I should check out the "quality" brand and remember that I liked it so much. It ended up being a make up brush - EsteLauder - no clue how it got amoung my brushes.....but I just love it! LOL

It just makes the orange pop out. I found that out when I did "Baby Rose". The videos are great, but I'm one of those artists that doesn't take classes on art on purpose. MANY DO WELL ALL ON THEIR OWN.......DISCOVERY IS SO FUN.

I do read a lot and I look at so much art. GOOD.
Where would we be without the internet? I went to a critique session at an art group last week and finally had to stand up and say my peace. So much negative imput. The man doing it was a realistic artist/teacher so anything slightly abstract he just didn't get. Even in the worse paintings there's always something good to say. Good thing I didn't take anything. He would have torn me apart, too:)) He didn't like me much when I was done, but artist's need encouragement not, as he put it, "this is a mess". That was cruel.I HAD HEARD THAT A GOOD CRITIQUE WAS 3 GOOD THINGS FIRST THEN 3 THAT COULD BE IMPROVED.
I wanted to say, too, that I love your drawings.THANK YOU, I AM VERY NEW AT GRAPHITE – IT TAKES SO MUCH TIME AND I AM NOT SURE I WANT TO SPEND THAT MUCH TIME.
I did a lot of pen and ink years ago and really loved it. Your drawings are wonderful.

The color videos are fabulous. So much information. But I never want to do the work. I just want to paint. He's so damn cute, HE HE HE I'd like to take a class just to watch him paint:))) Don't tell my kids, they are older than he is. My oldest son lives in Perth, Australia so I sat in the terminal in Auckland last year for hours, but never got out to see it. Such a beautiful place to live.

Delete Comment I love the light in this painting. Because I don't work off of photos, light is always the hardest thing for me to do. SOME TIME I WONDER WHY I HAVE A PHOTO FOR INSPIRATION, BECAUSE BY THE TIME I FINISH THE PAINTING YOU WOULD NOT RECOGNIZE IT EVER CAME FROM “THAT” PHOTO! I USE A LOT OF ARTIST LICENSE! I USUALLY DO PRETEND WHERE I SAY THE LIGHT IS COMING FROM AND THEN IMAGINE WHERE THE LIGHT HITS AND WHERE IT IS IN SHADOW.
You do a great Bob Ross thing with the follage. NEVER TOOK FROM HIM, BUT DO KNOW WHO HE IS......GUESS WE JUST PAINT ALIKE SOMETIMES.
I've never been able to figure out how to do that. He always made everything look so easy:)

And you take risks with your color like the purples on the ground. Just love it. If I gave a color class I'd just say here are your colors, now mix them up and see what you come up with. I've never found mud in any combinations. It's all beautiful to me. YES, BUT YOU NATURALLY DO WHAT IS CORRECT.
But I must admit that I love the orange next to a purple/lavender. SEE YOU ARE JUST A NATURAL BC COMPLEMENTARY COLORS APPEAL TO YOU.

Peggy, I say you are NORMAL! It is all but impossible to think (lol) when you paint. Oh, I start and concentrate, then find myself just getting all caught up in the event and just paint. I believe we need to study and learn, then just rely on that automatically coming out as we paint. Well, that is my excuse, and I am sticking to it! LOL // Oh everyone is getting Richard's videos befor me. (sob) If you see anything in any of my paintings to be improved by something you know, please tell me. I keep forgetting to put "all comments welcome" under my paintings that I post. I am most interested in learning. Ro

I am honored that you ask me to be your friend. I gladly accept. Ro - I just looked at your gallery. Your colors are so pure and rich. I admire anyone who is bold and skilled at the use of color! Well done.
