Hello, just to introduce myself.

I live in sunny Cyprus and am retired and enjoying being able to paint almost every day.  I have been painting for about 20 years and my medium was watercolours.  Two years ago I joined a group here in Cyprus and discovered the joy of oils.  My paintings have got bigger, bolder and as a result I have developed beyond my wildest dreams.

I originally painted seascapes but now have discovered the joy of architecture following a holiday to India and at present am working on a large painting of  macaws in a jungle as I am doing a glass mosaic at the same time.  I have been invited to display my work three times this year and have been successful in selling quite a number of pictures which is most encouraging.  I strive to get better and better and widen my scope.

The main problem here in Cyprus is buying materials which are horribly expensive but we manage.

I am so enjoying Richard's courses.

Hi Trisha, I am new too and do I wish I could retire and paint. I have been drawing, painging, taking pho0ts almost my entire life, but recently discovered oils a few years ago and love them. The online courses are a great idea, I can grab my paints and paint at home fitting time into a hectic schedule.

Hi Suzy,  Nice to hear from you.  I painted in watercolours for years and thought that was the only way to paint until a friend and art teacher died two years ago and her son gave me her oil paints and I have not looked back since.  It opened a whole new world for me.  I joined an art group here - not a class - and have continued to develop and we are lucky to have an art gallery on the harbour front that has exhibitions all year round.  We had three seperate weeks through the year and it was very gratifying and encouraging to sell paintings.  Would love to see some of your photos.

Hi Trisha,

I enjoyed seeing your paintings of I think Cyprus. I like your colors and composition, one looks like it might be water color and the other oil. It sounds like you have a good support group of artists. Connecting with a group here would be great, my schedule is very busy at the time so the group doing the workshop online has been a wonderful connection and fun to see others work. I have finally gotten a few paintings on my page, and would like to add more to include some photos and drawings. I missed the deadline for submitting paintings for the 1st workshop, but hope to be on time for the 2nd. I'll be doing more exploring of the website to see more of your work and others. What fun : )
