Hi Ann, thanks. In the meantime I have received some useful information about those bales from an american colleague. She said that i covered the look well in their nylon binding, giving them this reflective touch.

Hi Thomas, if you wanted to paint metallic hay bales you succeeded ! Its hard for the viewer to interpret them as bales because we aren't there. Great use of broken color on the bales you have done a great job of putting the surrounding color into the bales and I think that si why they look reflective.

Thank you Jessica and Olivia!

In the meantime i got some new info from a visitor of my blog. She said that i captured well of reflection from the nylon net around the bales :-)
Olivia, i wish i could answer that my painting is good and captured my perception/emotion and that it is just that what is strange to you ;-)

The difference in brushwork between foreground and background is very interesting and dramatic.

You have achieved your aim to show the reflective surface and given depth to the painting.

The feeling of sunlight is very strong and you have communicated what struck you about the  scene.

As I didnt see it the field looks very strange. Interesting but strange

The first thing I noticed was the metallic look of the bales - which is an interesting take on something made of straw!  Then I read your comments & saw that was what you were trying to achieve, so it worked!

Nope!  400km for us is nothing.  The town we go shopping every other weekend is 500km to and back.  My husband went there yesterday for a medical checkup and buy some groceries.

I really like this one.  The artist, Jose Salvaggio, must live near you, because he is also painting the same subject now almost everyday!

I love the brush strokes Thomas.  You have painted the hay rolls beautifully.  I also love the bushes.  Well done!
