I'm working through the concept that a lot of what we see, the visual information our eye reads, is redundant. How much can we leave out and still retain the mood and meaning?

Michael, it's always a pleasure to get a critique and a pat on the back from you. Glad you picked up the meaning of the colored shapes. This picture represents migraine recovery, at it's heart. The return to life, for my wife, after an attack.
Your contemplative/melancholy mood is well played out Michael with the the way the sitter is posed , the dominant neutral tones, and your simplification of the scene. The neutral tones are the key signature, and the colored shapes are the notes.
