Dor and Ann, the Casa Madrona Hotel is on Brigeway in Sausalito, the city just north of the Golden Gate bridge in Marin County, CA. Nice place to stay and great restaurant on the ground floor (Poggio); quite Mediterranean. San Rafael is about 10 miles further north on US Hwy 101. I usually post a comment about the location when I post the painting. Come visit! Syu

Brushes used for this size painting #4, #6 & #8 bristle brights and #2 & #4 synthetic brights for details plus #2 rigger.  Part of the texture on this painting is from acrylic modeling paste (Liquitex) brushed with a #12 bristle flat on the 12" by 16" birch panel covered with 2 coats of acrylic gesso.  This underlying texture makes it easy to dry brush on details and keep it painterly.  Stu

What size(s) of brush did you use? Very nice!

Tony, thanks for your compliments.  I always use a limited palette to get better color harmony:  Usual colors are yellow ochre , ultramarine blue, transparent earth red, viridian, hansa yellow medium, quinaqridone red, napthol scarlet and quick dry white (all from Gamblin).  I do use some dioxazine purple  and sometimes Indian red as well.  I also use an alkyd medium (Galkyd lite).  So the answer is 7 plus white.  My grays are usually mixed with ultramarine blue, transparent earth red, and the quidk dry white.   Stu
