Oil on textured panel, 6" by 8", plein air. I kept this one small because there were some storm clouds up North and it looked like the rain would return just as I was starting to paint. No sooner had I packed everything up when the drizzle began as I returned to my car and then the rain really got going. It's nice when the weather cooperates!!

This is great Stu, I love the warm colour in the foreground rock, a wonderful eye catcher!

Thanks Thomas! My painting "Up the path" is actually painted on the other side of the rock where the trail goes over it. Edwin Bertholet painted both sides of the rock that day and they are posted on FB. I don't think you meant your question literally, but that day we did paint both sides of Coyote Point!

Great! Nice colors everywhere, especially the bliue at the edge, makes me curious what lies behind that big rock.

Thanks Laura!  When I got to Coyote Point and found Edwin, he was almost done with his first painting.   While I was still painting mine he went around to the Marina, and when I finished and drove around there, he was pretty far along on his second painting and there were occasional rain drops.   So I painted a 6" by 8" and tried to keep it quick and simple.   All those brush marks that you see are the texture that I put on the plywood panel with Liquitex Super Heavy gesso before I finish it with an alkyd modified oil primer.   The brushstrokes help break up the paint and add some visual interest to the painting.
