It wasn't that cold-maybe 38 degrees Fahrenheit (about 3 degrees Celsius), but best bet is wool mittens with open ginger tips or just the ski glove liners. I had on warm clothes, but my feet got cold standing on wet gravel in my hiking boots. Plus, I only painted for about two hours. Elevation there was about 6500 feet (about 2000 meters). Lake Tahoe is the second largest lake in the US; the largest is Lake Michigan. Stu

Great pic! So, when painting in such a cold day, how did you manage with almost frostbitten fingers?

Thanks Silvana for the welcome and comment.   It was cold that day.  The two previous days were sunny with new snow and I skied rather than painted.   Here's a selfy photo of me several days before after a nice morning of skiing with my family.

Thanks Ann and Jon. Ann, I'll give that a try next Summer; this was the first time I had painted there and it was pretty cold. Stu

Burrr !  You should paint from this spot in the summer when Emerald Bay is that incredible green. It would make an interesting contrast of seasons
