Another Oil Still Life painting. I like to use items I have just laying around the house.

Smart use of colours! Congratulations!
Thank you for your comments. I do see what you mean. I think I rush into a painting without looking at all the options and better way of doing, and this is why i am seeking help. I am so keen to get into my painting space to put some of these tips to paper.
Cheers and much blessing
Lisa, beautifully rendered elements, great drawing, and good values. I am not sure about your composition though. I think the use of 2 vertical elements (about the same size) is creating a symmetrical balance to your composition. Removing one or the other from your composition would give you a more pleasing asymmetrical balance, enhance the movement, and clarify the focal point (your F.C. is ambiguous) Both the bottle and the vase of flowers are commanding the same attention ...there is kind of a "goal post" effect and our eyes actually go right through the uprights and we leave the painting. So, let's say you take the vase out. Our eyes then come up the folds of the cloth, to the stems, over to the shell, and peruse the F.C. (contrast of dark bottle, flowers, and shell). Some yellow flowers can be positioned to bring us back around to the beginning ..via the background folds. Also Lisa ...don't neglect gradation.
So beautifully done!!
