Thanks a lot Jen.   Yes, this was plein air with minimal studio touch ups.   The sunlight was very warm and intense at about 2 PM when I started the painting.   The perspective was a little difficult, particularly the steps and railings.   I do paint a lot of buildings and use my brush held at the angle of the edge of the building out at full arm's length and transfer the angle onto the canvas as a line during my design phase to get my drawing right.  I have been really focusing on my alla prima plein air techniqhe the past 6 months and there is nothing like practice to produce improvement.   I really appreciate your comments.    Stu

Stu....you must have some good perspective drawing skills. I like how this recedes back and the light captured on the far right of that building makes it appear so warm and sunny. Is this plein air? Composition and lighting, perspective all so well done. Great job Stu.

Thanks Laura and Ann. Ann this is plein air; I painted for about 2 1/2 hours; the sunlight was intense and I was painting into the light (contre jour). Stu

Lovely use of light and color on the buildings. Congratulations on a successful painting with a subject that looks complicated. Is this one plein air also ?
