My first plein air painted at the May14, 2015 workshop with our teacher Richard and John. It is also my first work finished outdoor. Not perfect but encourage me to paint more on site. Thanks to Richard and John. I had a fun and wonderful experience with them and other interesting students. And I learnt a lot.

Ningning, this is a super painting - so much energy in your brushstrokes & wonderful colour!  Especially impressive as it was all such a new experience for you.  Thanks for posting photos of the workshop - looks like a fantastic experience!

That's marvellous . I can't wait to do some plein air. The midges and mosquito season has just come to an end here in australia .

Ningning, I can feel your excitement! It was a blessing to paint side by side with such talented artists. Your painting has like an extra depth, nothings compare with the plain air painting, it seems like the artists eye likes the nature more than the pictures. I like your brushwork and your bold palette gives your painting life of its own. You should be indeed happy and proud with what you achieved. Good on you! :)

Silvana, Thank you. Yes, it is out of my confort zone. Very different.

I am so happy that you like that work. In fact, I should paint two. I did not paint  first day of the workshop. After the demo of John, all the others was painting their own work. I just watched John and others , looked around, checked my husband, took pictures, enjoyed the nature with all my sense. With my newly bought equipment of plein air painting. I did not paint anything. Just want to enjoy, Jet lag?

The next day, when Richard was painting the demo, I enjoyed very much. But after he finished,  I knew that I had to paint. Time to struggle.  All the students scattered to find a nice place  to paint. That was a very interesting sciene too. I behaved this time and found a place for myself.  We look like deers in the low bushes.

This painting cost me little more than an hour to finish. not perfect, but as the first plein air, It is ok. By the way, I am a slow painter,  have never painted a painting by such short time.  I should do more outdoor.

Laura, I am so glad that you like my brush stroke. It is a very interesting experiences for me. I bought 4 painting panels on the internet. they arrived the hotel the night before the workshop with my new easyle(from Artwork Essentials, INC) and wet canvas carrier. When I started to paint the next day, I found that the panel is a nudy without any canvas on it. Just a panel. It was too smooth, strange feelings when I put my brush on it. So, I used a lot of paints. It cames out ok.

Laura, I will. There are so many stunning scieneries along the coast of California. Just overwhelmingly beautiful!!!
